Did you know that you can use each page on your web site to get good placement for different key words? The trick is to use different key words on different web pages. You will also have to list the different keywords in a meta file on each page, but the order of those keywords in the meta file are pretty important.
I'll give you an example, let's say that you own a sports store and you sell want to sell lots of baseball items. Your home page should include the word baseball as much as possible, but do it naturally too, don't just keep needlessly repeating the word baseball. Your keywords meta file should be in this order: baseball, glove, bat, field etc...
On another page, you could gear it towards baseball gloves. So again, you should use the term baseball gloves as much as possible but naturally too. Your keywords would go something like this: glove, baseball, bat, field etc...
On yet another page you could gear it towards baseball bats. Use the word as often as possible on the page, again, naturally, and the keywords would go something like this: bat, baseball, glove, field etc...
Now all three of your web pages (not just the home page) will start doing better for all three terms (baseball, baseball glove, baseball bat) because each page in your site is geared towards different words or terms.
Generally only the first few words or phrases are taken into consideration when the robots search your site for consideration of the search engine placement.
This is another important reason to make each page, within your web site, be a good landing page. What I mean is, consider that the page may be the only page that a visitor looks at on your web site. Does it make a good impression on the visitor (if it does, then chances are, they will click further into your site)
